We were in the middle of a demanding hike up Mt. Niesen (Canton of Bern). While fighting the incline, we started venting about the biggest frustration in our industry: Gravity vs. Battery life.
The question hit us: Why not combine the lift of a blimp with the precision of a drone?
We had experience in robotics and autonomous systems, but absolutely no idea how to build an LTA aircraft. So, right there on the mountain, with a terrible mobile signal and an early version of ChatGPT, we ran the first rough physics calculations.
The verdict: Theoretically... it works.
The feeling: This is crazy. Let's do it.
